1. 打版时针距必须保持一致。当针距不一致时，链式针迹将变得不稳定；毛巾线迹高度也不一致缝制效果不理想。
2. 针距长度的设定按照所使用缝线粗细、缝料厚薄以及花型要求的针迹密度而不同，在同一种花型中针距的长度不要改变。
3. 当需要跳针时，某些缝料会随着跳动而变形。因此，在任何地方图案跳跃应尽可能短（注：缠绕绣和上带绣不能跳针）
4. 不要在图案绣完时设置跳针，否则毛巾圈将被机针钩住。
5. 从毛巾绣图案开始跳跃时，要走两三针链式线迹后再跳针。若直接从毛巾绣开始跳针，绣线将被带起，使毛巾圈散开。
6. 通常用两三针链式线迹来完成毛巾绣图案。如果直接以毛巾结束，则在更换缝料时缝线会散开。
7. 避免急剧改变刺绣方向。否则会产生跳线，特别是在缠绕锈和上带绣时会出现堆线使线迹隆起，效果不美观。通常其方向变化在大于90°。
